Tea is a natural pigment that can be used to paint with. With the tea, make dark and light shading to create something beautiful.
Equipment:
1 teabag
1/4 cup of water
paint brushes
watercolour paper
Directions:
Boil the water, and add it to the tea. Let it steam for 5 minutes. More water will make it darker. You can add some flour to the water.
Prime your watercolour paper, soak it in water and stretch it on a surface. You can use different papers, even just a normal print paper, or paint on a newspaper.
Apply the tea to the paper with a pointed brush, a sponge or some tissue paper. Try throwing the tea over the paper and create a painting with what splashes were formed.
Add a second or third layer of tea to make a darker stain, letting it dry in between layering.
Add extra water to weaken the tea stain.
Try different teas to get different colours. Also try adding some milk or lemon. You can add this directly to the paper, give it a try. It’s fun to experiment with.
